Step 1

Paint the Spoons: Use your paintbrush to paint your spoons bright colors. Put them on a paper towel or newspaper and leave them to dry.

Step 2

Prepare the Clothes: Cut coloured felt into shapes to make clothes for your monster. Then, with your scissors, cut a hole at the top of the felt. Make sure the hole is big enough for the spoon to slide through.

Step 3

Prepare the Hair: Cut coloured wool into lengths to use as your monster’s hair.

Step 4

Attach the Hair: Use glue to stick the wool at the top of the spoon’s handle, creating the monster’s hair.

Step 5

Dress Your Monster: Slide your spoon into the felt hole you cut earlier. Then, use your Sharpie pen to draw your monster’s mouth onto the spoon. After that, glue your googly eyes above the mouth.

Step 6

Add the Arms: Cut two slits on either side of the felt (where the monster’s shoulders would be) and slide in your colored lollipop stick.

Step 7

Create Monster’s Hands: Wrap your pipe cleaners around the ends of the lollipop sticks to create your monster’s arms.

Step 8

Final Touches: Your spoon monster is now ready! Repeat the steps to make different coloured monsters, each with their own unique style!

FAQ

Can I use Sharpie pens instead of paint?
Yes, you can! Sharpie pens or other permanent markers can be a great alternative to paint. They are less messy and come in various colors. Just be sure to let the ink dry for a minute or two to avoid smudging.
What can I use instead of googly eyes?
You can draw eyes using a marker, cut eyes out of paper or felt and glue them on, or use small buttons or beads as eyes. Get creative!
My wool is too thin for the monster’s hair. What can I do?
: If your wool is too thin, try folding it a few times or twisting multiple strands together to make it thicker. You can also try using yarn, string, or cut-up strips of fabric as alternatives for the monster's hair.
The lollipop sticks are too long for the monster’s arms. What should I do?
If the lollipop sticks are too long, you can easily trim them to the desired length with scissors. Make sure to ask an adult for help with this step to avoid accidents.
