Musical Chairs

A classic, energetic game where players circle chairs and scramble to sit when the music stops. Great for parties and group activities.

Equipment Needed

  • Chairs (one fewer than the number of players)
  • Music player

Step 1- Set Up Chairs

Arrange the chairs in a circle, alternating facing in and out, one fewer than the number of players.

Step 2- Start the Music

Begin playing music. Players start walking around the chairs.

Step 3- Stop the Music

Randomly stop the music. Players must quickly find a chair to sit in.

Step 4- Elimination

The player left standing without a chair is out. Remove one chair from the circle.

Step 5- Repeat

Continue playing, stopping the music and removing chairs until only one player remains seated.

The Rules

Rule 1

Players must walk around the chairs while the music plays.

No hovering over chairs or blocking others.

Once the music stops, find the nearest chair to sit in.

Double Trouble

Musical Freeze

Use two circles of chairs for larger groups, combining them as players are eliminated.

When the music stops, players freeze in place until it restarts, then find a chair.
